The YWCA Northeastern Massachusetts – A Voice for Women & Girls

Healing Circles

In 2019, the YWCA Women’s Health Services group will be offering monthly Healing Circles for women currently in treatment for any type of cancer.

We are offering Healing Circles to provide a resource in our local community for women currently in treatment for cancer with the focus on teaching skills for self-healing and wellness.

Our Vision for the YW Healing Circles

How the Healing Circles Will be Organized and Offered – Our Goals
First, it’s important to share that these Healing Circles are not support groups for women in cancer treatment.  This is not a place suitable for cancer patients to share their personal stories about the difficulties they are facing during treatment [be it the myriad of side effects often brought on by treatment].

Instead, the goal of the two-hour Healing Circles is to focus on teaching methods that bring a sense of renewal and restoration to the cancer patient.

We will do this by having a theme for each Healing Circle and by having a healing service provider teaching a “healing arch” during the session.  This may include deep breathing techniques, guided imagery, sound bowl healing, yoga practice [gentle postures and restorative positions], nutrition guidance and other such wellness topics that promote relaxation and renewal as participants work toward making peace with cancer within their bodies.

Our goal is to reunite the mind, body and spirit so that together the whole person can focus on bringing healing into their bodies.
