Overview

Kids w Earth PlatesThe YW’s Youth Services grew out of women’s economic needs for safe, world-class programs to serve their children while they work.

Today, our award winning Early Learning Center serves 124 children ages 1 month to 5 years with an innovative curriculum that focuses on establishing solid foundations in core knowledge areas, including number and letter identification, reading, comprehension and writing skills.

Our After and Out-of School programs operate year round, and serve children in kindergarten through eighth grade. After School programs run September through the end of the academic year, and are available at the YWCA in both Lawrence and Haverhill.  Focus is given to academic success and training children to be eager and effective learners, with afternoon tutoring available.  Once home work is completed, children are encouraged to participate in games, and field trips. Out-of-School programs run during school vacations, including the summertime.  Inventive activities include field trips and Urban Explorers, where children have the opportunity to get outside in a fun way while building their self-confidence and outdoor skills.

Our gender-specific Girls Center is for girls age 6 to 17, and operates year-round, both after and out-of-school.  This program offers enrichment and special programs with a focus on six core themes, including Academics, Career Exploration, Leadership & Social Responsibility, Health & Wellness, Creative Expression and Family Unity.
